stuck again

What kind of mother laughs, runs and gets her camera to take a picture of her baby wedged in the crib before helping her out? (My kind, I guess.)

Katie is such a sweet baby...she just waits there silently and patiently, waving around her stuck little limbs outside the crib.

mute button

For the first time in my life, I have laryngitis. I am not just a little hoarse, but have a complete and total loss of my voice! I can't speak above a whisper, and I am now painfully aware of how often I speak to my children throughout the day. I need to use my voice to soothe the baby, distract the toddler, read books, sing songs, discipline, and praise. I am now resorting to overly expressive gestures (hand and face), shushing (when necessary), applauding, and tongue clicking (works to get a baby's attention). It is frustrating and hilarious all at the same time. I am open to any other suggestions!

Thankfully, my girls got to have speaking people around them last week when we visited family in South Carolina.

it's official...

...my house is unnaturally clean and tidy.

Getting the house ready to put on the market has been consuming most of my time and energy for the past 3 or 4 weeks, so it's actually nice to say "DONE!" and just put the sign in the yard and go for it!

I know you want to ask me, so I will go ahead and answer your burning questions:
Why are you moving?
We want more space.
Where are you moving?
We don't know. Probably NE Tallahassee.
When are you moving?
We don't know. If we don't sell the house in a few months, then we'll take it off the market and stay here for a couple of years.
Is selling by owner with a baby and toddler fun and/or easy?
Yes, very much so.

valentine's weekend

My parents came this weekend, allowing all sorts of special things to happen. Mark and I got to go out on a date night, part of which we spent renewing our wedding vows. It doesn't get much better than that!

My mom and Meg made Valentine cookies together. Meg must have taken the "can't have too much of a good thing" approach to piling on the heart sprinkles. The pink frosting under her nose tells me some taste testing happened.

Most importantly, Katie was baptised on Valentine's Day! It was a great day and I'm glad we got to share it with some family.

this is going to be fun

We got a little Valentine in the mail that Meg made in her preschool class. It was supposed to be a surprise, but Meg was so excited about it that we knew it was coming. I can tell that every holiday is going to be so much more fun with little ones.

2:34

Slow and steady wins the race...actually it totally does not win any race but it was really fun anyway. The Tallahassee Half was freezing cold but it was the best I'd ever felt running that distance. Probably because I was so slow. Seriously, two marathoners passed me (as in the whole marathon) as I did my final lap towards the finish line!!

just the beginning

Meg is into grabbing toys away from Katie. Everything Katie has becomes irresistable to Meg.

Thankfully Katie doesn't seem to mind this attention...yet.

Meg is so pleased with herself and her bucket-hat idea.
