stuck

This has been happening a lot lately, and even when I have to un-wedge those legs in the middle of the night it still makes me laugh.

a beautiful life

Meg cobbles together sentences from things she hears adults say, without knowing the meaning. So she says some pretty strange things at random times, like "Can you figure out what I need?" and "I can make money for Grandpa Mike." It's so funny because she has no idea what she's saying.

But today as she was silently eating her lunch she came forth with a great one: "A child's life is beautiful." I have never said this and I highly doubt Mark has either, so who knows where that came from, but I love it.

born to run

As I gear up for the Tallahassee Half Marathon, I thought I'd look for something inspirational to read, and boy did I find a good one. It is a fascinating and true account of the author's quest to learn about an elusive tribe of native people in Mexico who can run better than almost anyone else - for days without stopping, wearing bad shoes, with hardly enough to eat, and dodging drug cartels. As I huff and puff through my 11-minute-miles, this gives me something to think about.

live oak island

I got to spend some time away with some girlfriends by the beach this weekend - it was less than 24 hours but long enough to come back refreshed. As soon as I got there I couldn't help but get out on the porch with my camera...the clouds were like nothing I'd ever seen before. They were so heavy and low it looked like you could just reach up and touch them.

I managed to take no pictures of my human friends, but instead I will leave you with a picture of Riley, our four-legged and hairier friend.

what we've been up to

Katie has been up to: practicing sitting (with pillows to spot her), sprouting teeth (two!), and chewing on things that are not food.

Meg has been up to: dancing, saying "no way, Jose!", and making strange formations with her letter magnets.
