who needs toys?

I always forget how easy it is to set the girls on the back porch with water and a few cups and spoons...they will play in total silence for almost an hour.

meg march update

This month Meg and Mark went to a dad-daughter "sock hop" sponsored by our church. Meg was SO excited for this - she talked about it for the entire week before their "date"...what she would wear, what they would eat, etc. I love that they got to do this together - I could tell she felt sooo special.

(That thing she is doing with her feet is NOT posed!)

katie march update

Katie is hilarious. She makes me laugh out loud every day. This is perfect because she also requires a lot of attention for correction. That is a euphamism for mischeivous behavior, like scratching her sister in the car when I'm driving and can't do anything about it.

All day, every day, she sings the same song at the top of her voice. Therefore, it is in my head too, in the exact same way that she sings it. Do you remember this song from Sunday School?:
"The B-i-b-l-e
yes, that's the book for me
It stands alone on the word of God,
the B-i-b-l-e."

Katie sings it the exact same way, every time:
"The B-i-b-o-e
Yes, that's a book a me,
It sands a wo wo wo wo God,
the B-i-b- that's ME!!"

Meg and Katie walked out of their room one morning with tutus on their heads:

She's also incredibly sweet with her sisters and for the most part plays with them really well. She will walk up to them and randomly give them a kiss on the head.

a little gross...a little fascinating

Can you identify this?

It is the tag on a blanket! It has been rubbed, rolled, and loved into an entirely new shape. Most tags on blankets in our house look like this. The baby blankets in our house have been in constant use since Meg was born, and the tag is by far the most important feature. Both Meg and Katie like to rub the tag between their fingers- I think it is soothing to them. Time will tell whether Claire shares their strange habit.

5 months

A virus got our computer and we have been without one for eleven days!! It felt like forever but I am grateful we didn't lose anything important.

Claire is really almost 6 months old but I thought I'd share some pictures from a few weeks ago. Her favorite toy is her toes...

I love her body and especially her thighs...we call them her Sister Schuberts because they remind us of those white, fluffy Sister Schubert's dinner rolls you eat only at Thanksgiving and Christmas! She is at such a squishy, cuddly, soft stage of babyhood.

awake...asleep!

Meg and Katie like to make up games that are understandable only to them but entertaining for me. I love that they can slip into their own little world for a few minutes and totally enjoy each other's company.

One of their favorite games is the "awake/asleep" game...from what I can tell, it entails one girl (usually Meg) shouting out orders of "awake!" or "asleep!" and the other girl dramatically pretending to pass out asleep or jerk violently awake. Then it is followed by a lot of belly laughs.

I made cookies for Valentine's Day and they were so sweet watching them bake...
